1. The Market
Newbies in business often flounder because they want to get started big by selling anything and everything to everyone. Narrowing down your target market is the easiest and most cost efficient way to operate as you can use more of your money to promote major differentiators. When you have established your market, it’s time to choose some key phrases that describe the service you are promoting or the product you are selling. Key words and phrases are essential!
2. Keywords
Sit back and think of what you would type in a search bar if you were looking for the product you are promoting or selling. What would get someone to visit your site? Beginnings should start with a 3 to 4 word phrase that is very descriptive of your service or product. An example of this would be “Georgia wedding caterers” or “free meal deal coupons". Competing is easier when you use a few words versus just one keyword that is so general such as "caterers" and "coupons".
3. Domain Name
Your internet address is your domain name. You can choose a branding named domain such as ‘AdamsonCatering.com”, or you can try to match your phrase more like ‘AtlantaWeddingCatering.mobi’. The branding name is one that seems to stick easier to a customer and is catchier.
4. Start a Blog
Get a blog of articles going about your service or product. Visitors can comment on blogs or you can opt to not have comments allowed. Blogs can establish you within the industry. Try writing one blog a week and be very consistent about sticking with it. People will begin to go weekly to look for your latest blog if you remain consistent as to when you blog on your website.
5. Email Marketing
Marketing through email has been a great success. For newbie’s, set up a hosted email account that is easy to use and gives you options for later when you understand the marketing behind email more. Always get permission to get email lists. That is one of the most important things for beginners to remember. Unsolicited emails can be against the law in many places. The best way to get started is by putting a sign up list on your website to receive emails.
6. Pay Per Click
Getting started with a pay per click provider is the best way to show some of your ads and hopefully drive traffic to your website and sales as well. Remember to go with the best keywords and keyword phrases and draft up some very effective ads. Your ad has to be good enough to make the customer click and go to your landing page.
7. Social Media
Take advantage of your social networking sites and Online Marketing for promoting yourself. Doing so is could really add a lot of potential dollars to your bottom line. With social media, the most important factor is being truthful and genuine. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn are some great ways to social network your business as a beginner. Now, that all may seem like a lot to take in, but its easy to do if you put your mind and heart into it!
