1. Specifications.
The published external spec of the Samsung S3 is 136.6 mm x 70.6 mm x 8.6 mm, weighs 133 g made of quality plastic, and can choose from two colors: pearl white and pebble blue. It is slightly longer than an average soap. Many people finds the quality of the material questionable but a phone is not made to scrub rough places, right? It may appear to be bigger than other smartphones but according to Samsung, it was "designed to fit into hands perfectly". On the other hand, LG has no words yet on the exact spec of their Optimus 4X HD but it surely is going to have a slick design, as seen in the predecessors of the mobile phones made by LG.
2. OS.
Both smartphones will be using Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich known for indomitable speed and performance.
3. Display.
Samsung is using a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution for their Galaxy S3 with 306 ppi at 4.8-inch display. While there are no notes yet on how big the screen will be, LG will be using 312 ppi at 4.7-inch display, very, very slightly better, but the difference is not noticeable to the naked eye.
4. Camera.
Both smartphones are equipped with 8 Megapixels camera, LED flash, autofocus, smile detection, and image stabilization. While there are still no exact words on what other things a 4X can do, Samsung Galaxy S3 boasts other features like exposure control, panoramic mode, multi-shot, allowing the user to capture 8 consecutive shots and the gadget will automatically suggest which among the 8 shots is the best photo.
5. Storage.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 and the LG Optimus 4X HD have 1 GB of RAM and a micro SD slot. The Optimus 4X HD comes in 16 GB, while the Galaxy S3 offers more choices with 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB. An added feature of Samsung smart phones is their Kies Air application, which may be compared to the iCloud of Apple. What's nice about Kies Air is that you can open the files over WiFi, using any other mobile device, unlike with Apple where you can only open the files using Apple products.
6. Connectivity.
Like any other smartphones, both are equipped with Wi-Fi capability and Bluetooth. One new feature of the Galaxy S3 is the so-called "S Beam". It allows users to transfer or share photos and other files from one Galaxy S3 to another in a jiffy by merely placing both phones back to back each other. Voila! You have it with you. Galaxy S3 also allows users to upload photos to Facebook and automatically tag your friends in those photos. Very convenient, isn't it? Samsung is not toppling down some other smartphones who claims to have a "virtual assistant" living inside your phone. With Galaxy S3, you have the same assistant, only better, as it is designed for humans, as they claim. The verdict? Hands down Samsung Galaxy S3. It simply is a genius. It is hard to compare such genius gadget to something that lacks certain imperative specifications. As for me, I am having doubts whether LG can at least be at par with Samsung. Samsung Galaxy S2 has already been proven a genius, and the jump between the S3 and its predecessor is greater than imagined. But let us not preempt everything. Let us wait for LG to introduce the product and have proper information about it. Who know it might just be the first to topple S3 down. Who doesn't love underdogs anyway?
