Most of us use Facebook, the social networking site for many different reasons.We do share our thoughts, photos, music with our family and friends, play online games .and contests as per our likings. It’s at present drawing the traffic of the total number of world wide internet users in 2004.
But some security flaws have been brought out by BBC in Facebook, an application posed to be a game or a quiz can actually steal your personal private information. You might know how to protect yourself from this situation but what about your friend who has downloaded and installed the application, along with that your information, that might include your phone number and address too gets accessed by the developers without your knowledge. Facebook can track both Logged out and logged in users. It detects you through your used browser. Facebook is the most appalling spy machine that has ever been invented” says WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
The solution or steps you can take to protect your privacy are:-
- Delete all Facebook cookies.
- If you are using Firefox browser install ‘Facebook Blocker’ or ‘Disconnect ’and ’and’and if you are using Google Chrome install ‘Facebook Disconnect’.
- Facebook is often targeted by scammers and hackers, so don’t click tempting links it might instal malicious software. Facebook too warns its users against this practice.
- Those of you who are already using Adblock Plus in Firefox and Google Chrome can check out for Facebook Privacy List for Adblock Plus, just Download Subscription then add it to Adblock Plus. It will block Facebook plugin and script.
- And yes do follow the Facebook Privacy Setings.
