There is no specific reason why this error comes. This may happen by installing some programs not all but surely this error can be resolved.
In theory various reasons can be cited for this problem. It may occur due to installation crash, registry error, or user, admin permission. Main issue comes from windows installation service. That installer service may not work properly for some program.
You can get access to Windows Installer service in whatever way you like. Shorter way to access are as follows:
- Click Start, then click on Run, type services.msc and press {ENTER}
- Scroll down through list of services on right, Double-click Windows Installer
- Check Startup type Windows Installer and set it to Manual
- Check the service status, Click Start button to start the service. Note down if there are any error message.
- Click OK.
This will solve the problem, Now try again installing software to check installation. Sometimes windows restart is also done but that is not always necessary.
If Windows Installer service is not listed in the Services applet, above step cannot be done. In that case you need to install Windows Installer Registry Fix.
Follow these steps:
- Download file msiserver.zip and save it to Desktop.
- Unzip the file and extract msiserver.reg to the Desktop.
- Right-click msiserver.reg and choose Merge.
- Click Yes when asked for confirmation.
- Restart Windows.
